Jesus’ claim to be the bread of life was startling and bold. He was indicating that He would be THE answer, the ONE the Israelites had been waiting for. He alone would completely and eternally satisfy a world filled with the perpetually hungry. A preposterous declaration!
Unless it’s true.
And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna… that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 8:3 ESV
PERSONAL REFLECTION:
As you consider Jesus’ bold declaration, what thoughts come to mind about God’s provision physically and spiritually? What do you think about regarding needs, hungers, dependency and what satisfies? How do you come to Jesus and receive him as your daily bread?
