Jesus declares that He is the Light of the World. The ONE who swallows up the darkness—the ONE who sustains life. He reveals and exposes. He unveils God to humanity and illuminates a path into God’s presence. He is our salvation! If it isn’t true He’s a liar, or a lunatic… but what if?
The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.
Isaiah 60:19-20
Personal Reflection:
Considering Jesus’ statement, that He is the fulfillment of the light to come, the EVERLASTING light, the light to overcome the darkness, are you filled with hope or trepidation? How has Jesus been light in your life? How has He illuminated your understanding? How has He uncovered/exposed hidden things? Do you feel like you’ve been sitting in the dark? How does Jesus overcome?
