…How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”
Genesis 28:17
Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them, and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.
Psalm 118:19-20
Jesus claims HE is the door. Not only did Jesus say that He was the door, but that entering through Him IS salvation, it is LIFE. Audacious proclamations! If untrue, such statements could keep those He claimed to serve, from having access to the God He claimed to be. BUT, if true, these words would be the way into abundant and everlasting life!

PERSONAL REFLECTION:
How does Jesus fulfill the prophecy of being heaven’s gate? Who are the righteous? If Jesus is the only door into God’s kingdom/presence/abundant and everlasting life, why do we sometimes keep trying to enter through the door of religion, or good works, or moral behaviour? What does the abundant life that Christ offers really look like?
